OUR BUSINESS MODEL
Our program started in 2006 and has always been the same, raise cattle in the same environment as the commercial cattlemen. The rough terrain on our various ranches provides the right environment to develop the cattle correctly. We want our bulls to perform at a high level, covering the country and getting to each cow. While fostering durability, we also strive to create a strong phenotype supported by a balanced EPD package. Our program is driven by progressive genetics developed the right way for the commercial cattleman.
The bulls are raised in the same environment as the commercial females they are going to breed. The bulls are developed in tough country not making their life easy and getting their feet hard. These bulls do go backwards going through this 6 month program but we believe it gives them a foundation for their future. Bulls are weaned and put in big mountain pastures and rotated with horses, dogs, and ATV's, getting them used to being handled and learn to move around in bigger country. They get rotated over 8 different large pastures learning how to become a bull. It’s not perfect every time but we feel it is the most realistic way to give these bulls their highest level of success. After the 6 month program they go on feed in Tulare, CA at Guess Cattle Co. where they are further developed and conditioned in the heat and put on a grain ration. Bulls will come home 7-10 days prior to sale day.
